Swanage & Wareham welcomed Yeovil on to Bestwall last Saturday, and in a frustrating game Swans hung on to seek revenge for a close game in the first half of the season away.
A series of early penalties to both sides were awarded but after five minutes a penalty took Swans into the 5 metres line in the Yeovil 22. From the line out Swans, powered over the try line and scrum half Chris Tomes claimed the try out wide. Steve Woolley failed with the conversion.(5pts – nil). Yeovil came back at Swans and after a few penalties, the visitors came close enough to try for goal and after 20 minutes they succeeded (5pts – 3pts).Ten minutes later fly half Steve Woolley went off injured whilst preparing to take a shot at goal, and Ice Matacagi took over and converted the kick(8pts – 3pts).
The second half was much like the first half which was a tough encounter with both sides tackling well and penalties going to each side. However a couple of these went to Swans and after 50 minutes one of them was close enough for Ice Matacagi to slot one over(11pts – 3pts). The play was even for most of the rest of the half but on 70 minutes a line out drive by Yeovil from Swans 5 meter line meant that the converted try reduced Swans lead to a point(11pts – 10pts). In the remaining ten minutes both sides came close to scoring but Swans were happy to win the game picking up 4 league points for the win, with Yeovil getting a losing bonus point.
