In goal this week we have 5th team Co-Captain, Josh O'Neil. Keeping the only clean sheet this Wednesday helped his team to their third win in a row for the league. O'Neil made a big save at 0-0 to keep the game level and an even more impressive athletic diving save later on at 2-0, ensuring that his side picked up their firs t clean sheet this season!
At the back on the left we have first team left back, Mike Davey. The scoreline is very harsh on Davey who played fantastically against a strong Exeter side. Davey put in great shift and got Man of The Match from his teammates. In the middle of the back three we have 4th team CB Matt Blakey. Blakey helped his team to their first win of the season with a dominating performance and was picked out by his captain for an especially steady performance at the heart of their defence. On the right of the back we have 2nd team centre back Greg 'Dyke' King. King has really impressed so far this season and has done so again this week in a very tough game against Bristol. King stood out for the second week in a row and has been rewarded by Allard with yet another mention in Team of The Week.
On the left of the middle four we have 3rd team CAM and ladies man Pablo Correas. Pablo really shone in the game for the 3s on Wednesdays and was unfortunate to be on the losing side. The flamboyant Spanish midfielder has shown steady improvement and has really earned his spot this week. In the middle we have the obligatory M. Norey spot, I've quite literally run out of superlatives for this lad, he's pretty good. Alongside him this week we have 2nd team captain Josh Allard. Allard has been on quite a scoring run this season, and netted twice this Wednesday. Allard has really led by an example and should be commended on a fantastic start to the season. Completing the midfield on the right we have 5th team winger Lee Mulholland. Lee continued his great start to the season with another typically great performance on the right side for Morgan and O'Neil's team, and he capped off the great performance by scoring on their way to a 3-0 win on Wednesday.
Up front on the right we have third team utility player Fred Jackson. After starting up front on his own Jackson had limited impact until Captain TCullers moved him to the right wing where he terrorised the Glamorgan left back. Continually attacking the back line paid off when he latched on to a lobbed ball and scored the second for his team, and his second in the last two games. In the middle we have 7th team striker Dave 'Subo' Boyle. Boyle netted twice in the 7s game today as his side were 5-0 winners over FC Pitches & Bitch*es. It could have been the perfect day for Boyle but an uncharacteristic miss from the penalty spot kept him from completing his hattrick. Now onto our last spot in the starting 11, 2nd team striker extraordinaire, John Roberts. Roberts scored yet again on Wednesday and put in his usual flair filled, pace fuelled performance, but that wasn’t even his best performance of the week. Playing for Team Swansea Roberts scored four and assisted two in a 6-2 trouncing against Gors yesterday. Two top drawer performances that have comfortably got him another spot in TOTW.
On the bench this week we have 1st team CM Tom Grey. Grey put in a solid performance in the centre of the park and received praise from top coach of the number one team franchise Nick Bowing. Also on the bench we have 4th team CM Tom Barrett. Barrett was picked out by his captain after a great leading performance from the centre of the park, helping his side to their first win of the season. Also from the 4th team, Mr. Consistency, Josh Kirby. The well experience SUMFC man used all of his knowhow to keep out a strong attack force and played a great match at left back yet again, earning him his second consecutive spot in TOTW. Next we have Ali Kokaz from the 5th team. Playing in the centre of midfield Ali put in a commanding performance and was too much for Aber to cope with, helping out from box to box to ensure a 3-0 win for his team. And last but not least we have Eddi Chibundu-Campbell. Eddi put in a typically industriously strong performance whilst keeping great control throughout. Although his side did suffer a loss, his performance stood out to his manager who picked him to claim his first spot in the TOTW.
Congratulations to all those who made it in to the TOTW this week, and good luck to all those playing next week! Make sure to check back to see if you've make it into next week's edition!
