Recruitment for 2013 has gone exceptionally well with a lot of bulk being added to the forwards. New players Ben Stevens, Nick Warren, George Cowley, Mark Sharp and Brad Weston added to the experienced forwards Ben Bridson and Phil Weigh will bring a lot of power and pace to Swindon's pack.

Although Mike Thompson, St George's top try scorer for the last two years, is unavailable this year, recruitment in the backs has also been very good. Powerful Centres Greig O'Brien and Ash Brown are returning after a couple of years off and with new recruit Liam Rowe bringing his pace to fullback, St George should, hopefully, have tries spread throughout their back-line.

Swindon St George Head Coach, Carl Baker is looking forward to the season. “After a very strong recruitment drive during the winter period we have a number of new players that will be joining our team. Most of last year’s players will be with us again and after a good pre-season we are looking forward to our warm-up games against Swindon RFC and the University of Bath before getting our season going away at Bristol. With a strong attacking backline with players coming from all of Swindon’s rugby union teams joining us, matched with a sizable forwards pack we are expecting a dazzling display of attack with rock solid defence. 2013 is definitely the season for SSG.”

Swindon St George will play their first of their two pre-season games on Sunday.

It will be the annual charity cross-code game against Swindon RFC, 1st half - 20mins League, 20mins Union, 2nd half - 20mins Union, 20mins League, with all match fees and any other monies raised going to Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity dedicated to supporting the children of men and women killed whilst serving in the British Armed Forces.
