Bracknell kicked-off and dominated the first few minutes of play. Tadley were quickly called upon to defend with the team putting in some good tackles notably both Connors, Charlie and Josh were amongst the thick of it. Bracknell’s persistence led to them running in their first try under the posts which was converted (0-7).
Tadley were straight back into the game following Harrisons’ kick-off. There followed a period of play with both teams evenly balanced and producing some good rugby. Bracknell broke the stalemate to score their second try (0-12).
The Tadley team played really well for the remainder of the first half. Charlie, Ben P and Louis were making some great runs at Bracknell, Ben M made some darting runs along the touch line. The team’s newest members and the U12s made a great contribution during this time, with Callum showing some great confidence and kicking.
The second half got underway from Harrison’s kick and Tadley dominated the early exchanges. After a little more than 2 minutes some nice work from Tristan, playing at scrum half for the first time, released Connor H who showed his pace running through Bracknell to score Tadley’s first try of the day right under the posts. Harrison stepped up and made the conversion (7-12).
The next 10 minutes were very evenly balanced. Both teams had chances to score, a couple of times taking the ball over the try line only for it to be held-up by the defence. Bracknell finally broke the deadlock running in and converting their third try (7-24).
Tadley’s restart was textbook stuff. Harrison’s high kick-off meant Bracknell could not manage to control the ball, allowing Callum to show a quick pair of legs, picking the loose ball and running over for Tadley’s second try of the day (12-24).
Shortly after Bracknell had kicked-off Tadley were again applying pressure. Nice work from Ben feeding out to Callum who chased the ball through Bracknell’s backs and over the try line but could not quite touch it down. Tadley were now playing well together and although long spells of play were spent in Tadley’s half, the game was really well balanced. The whole team were working well together, unfortunately the last seconds of the game saw Bracknell run in their forth try which was converted (12-31).
Tadley played well as team, with everyone fully involved and committed. The scoreline maybe did not fairly represent how close the game was. Men of the Match went to Louis and Connor, who continued the unbeaten run in the drinking games!
