In a fair more brief summary of last week's game, than probably deserved, the 2xi put down a statement of intent for the remainder of the season and ahead for next years campaign. The 2xi hosted local rivals CBH 3xi who were invited to bowl first. An attritional, gritty batting performance ensued with our 2xi scoring 138/9 off their 50 overs - scores for Harding (32), Clark (25) and Sandland (34) the main highlights (Sandland also quick to remind anyone interested - more not interested - that he is now averaging 113 against CBH this year...
In return, the bowling and fielding display was ruthless to say the least. A blistering opening spell from Miles along with the craft & guile of Forster, finished off by Sappani left visitors dismissed for 59 runs - 4 wickets each for Miles & Forster and 2 from Sappani. An incredible display and CBH were sent home with their tails between their legs.
Looking forward to this week, the 2xi travel to their closest away fixtures, only a few miles down the A41 at Christleton. In the reverse fixture 12 weeks ago, there was a run-fest at The Flacca with Christleton batting first and scoring 244/7 - a more than respectable score with 100* from Mitchell and 50+ from Brearey the highlight for the visitors. However, Tattenhall were not for rolling over and opener Cooke lead from the front with a century of his own before falling on Nelson (the score, not a player...) Cooke was helped by Sandland (29) and then double act of M Harper (62*) and G Harper (17*) got the team across the line. Scoring 245/3 off 41.5 overs - who knows what the score would have been if they have 50 overs to bat.
This week's game has the chance to be another run-fest with a flat ground at Christleton, known for its excellent batting tracks. Not a day to be a bowler...
Ones to watch.
