Tavistock's wait for their first away victory of the season continues as they went down by 3 points away to Hayle.
In a game that very much resembled a mudbath, honours could've gone either way in a very tight affair.
It was Hayle that got off the mark first when an infringement in front of the posts was duly converted. Tavistock got on top for the rest of the half but struggled to convert pressure into points.
It took until the stroke of half time to break the deadlock when Martin Budden playing in the centre fended off two defenders to go over in the corner.
The second half started very much the same when Tavistock infringed and Hayle converted to bring the scores to 6-5.
Tavistock again entertained much of the possession and did go back in front when a break from Mark Friend was offloaded to Ben Milligan to cross the whitewash.
With 15 minutes to play, Hayle hit a stroke of luck when deep in their half a turn over was fly hacked through only for the hosts to win the footrace and pounce to gain the winning score.
This weekend there is no league action but the club will be remembering Gareth Puttick in a memorial game against Roundhegians RFC on Saturday from 12pm and on Sunday we celebrate the coaching career of Will Reed in a reunion match from 11am as he sets to retire at the end of the season.
