A game that certainly would have entertained the crowd but would have left both managers scratching their heads as TD came out the right side of a 10 goal thriller.
A near perfect start for TD as Jack Bailey slipped the ball to skipper James Hill to score from the edge of the area after just two minutes. We could and should have extended our lead as a number of chances were wasted. A young, energetic Tipton side responded well scoring two quick goals to take the lead. On the half hour mark quick thinking from Alex Pinches and James Hill saw a short corner played and Hill get his 2nd goal.
Five minutes before half time Hill played the ball wide to Chris Knight who cut in from the right hand side and smashed a screamer into the far top corner to make it 3-2 at half time although we did survive another scare just before the break.
Tipton came out full of energy and commitment again and forced the equalizer (3-3). On the hour TD got their fourth goal - a lovely move involving Josh Lemm & Chris Knight saw Lemmy deliver a good cross and Alex Pinches scored a rare header.
Shortly after Jack Bailey made way for Craig Edwards to get his first start of the season after working abroad and his high work rate and energy made a positive impact.
On 75 minutes James Hill made another assist, this time for Tyrone Clarke who netted yet again and we had a 5-3 lead but five minutes later and we gifted another goal to Tipton (5-4).
An immediate change was made with 17 year old James Fletcher making his senior league debut, replacing Pinches.
With five minutes remaining we finally made the game safe when Hill gave the ball to Craig Edwards who tucked the ball into the far corner.
Credit to both sides in making it a fantastically entertaining game. Neil and his young side conducted themselves superbly and will win plenty of games this year with their pace up front. It is not often you score six goals and come off the pitch feeling disappointed. Everyone in the dressing room knows we have to be better and more disciplined starting on Bank Holiday Monday at Gornal Athletic.
