Team Dudley Win on their Travels

Fantastic 4-1 win at Allscott

After a couple of fantastic performance at Priory Road, we travelled to Shropshire to face Allscott F.C. The pitch was in decent order considering its January but this match was played on a freezing cold day. I consider Allscott to be a banana skin team if you are not at the races and within five minutes we found ourselves behind yet again. Allscott broke away down our right hand side and although the cross was dangerous one, we still had three defenders sliding in to clear versus one attacker. The cross should have been dealt with but the ball ran kindly for the Allscott attacker to bundle the ball home. Going behind early only served to ignite our play and we started to turn the screw going forward. We had a couple of near misses before Nathan Jones put in a fantastic cross from the left hand side that found Tyrone Clarke who equalised with a superb flick header on twenty minutes. Once we drew level we started to play some really good stuff and it was only a matter of time before we went ahead. Good work from Nathan Jones again on thirty five minutes, saw him rob a defender by the corner flag. As he drove into the box, he spotted James Hill running into the box and with a great cut back from Nath, James took the ball in his stride before smashing the ball home low into the bottom right hand corner. H-T 1-2 As the second half progressed, it was clear we would win the game by a good margin. Josh Rogers had very little to do and going forward we looked dangerous. Following a corner in the 56th minute, Dan Hadley saw his close range header blocked on the line but he was able to bundle home from the rebound to record his first goal for the club. With the game safe we started to open up the Allscott defence at will and following a super through ball, Ty Clarke made it four with a neat finish when one on one with the keeper. With only 65 minutes gone, I was hoping we would make the score line more emphatic. Both Dan Harvey and Ben Easthope had good chances but shot straight at the keeper and after good work from Andy Hudson, Jack Bailey was presented with a one on one but the keeper made an excellent save. F-T 1-4 This was another fantastic performance. We really have tightened up at the back and although we have conceded one goal in each of the last three games, we have restricted our opposition to very few chances. On the flip side, going forward we have created some fantastic chances. Wrens Nest were put to the sword with us scoring seven, Wyrley were really let off lightly with us only scoring two, but that could easily have been seven also and Allscott could not have complained in we had scored seven either. A good three points and more importantly a very good performance.
