2022 : A Happier New Year!?

...or more of the same?

So 2021 has finally gone - thank goodness!
A quick look back and what we can expect in 2022.

Let's face it, 2021 was a pretty bad year for Teversal FC.
We've played games in two leagues and, lets be honest, we haven't covered ourselves with glory.
Well, I say played in two leagues, but we didn't actually fulfil any matches in the East Midlands Counties League during 2021 - our last game being a 4-0 away defeat at Sherwood Colliery during the "Chrimbo Limbo" period in fromt of a sell out crowd (attendances being limited to 150 under Covid restrictions).
In total in the last EMCFL season we played only ELEVEN games picking up TWO wins (a 1-0 scoreline at home to Dunkirk in mid-October and a 3-2 win at Heanor Town the following week) and scoring just nine goals!

The new season arrived with us, along with a lot of local sides shunted over back into the Northern Counties East League in the FA's grand scheme to restructure the Pyramid System.

While hopes were high, things haven't gone according to plan with just ONE victory (a 7-4 cracker at home to FC Humber United in mid-September) from the twenty-three games played so far, and the addition of three draws means we have just SIX points on the board out of the sixty nine available and a thirteen point gap to make up to get out of the (rumoured) relegation spots!
And you can add three Cup defeats in the first played round for the team too - FA Vase, NCEL League Cup and Notts FA Senior Cup.

Things have got to improve on the pitch for the Tevie Boys on 2022, or we could be looking down the barrel of relegation, which could also mean a drop in status for the Reserves too.
With the current Covid Omicron infection numbers increasing daily, will we get to play any games in 2022 as restrictions may be arriving in the New Year, we will have to wait and see.

Try to have a HAPPY NEW YEAR and hopefully we'll see you down at the Tomlin Personnel Park and the Tevie Bar pretty soon!
