A Carl Stewart hat-trick helped Bridlington Town to a 4-1 home win over Parkgate in the only Baris NCEL Premier Division game played on Saturday.

The victory means that the Seasiders have moved to within a point of the league leaders Scarborough Athletic going into the New Year.

Stewart opened the scoring on nineteen minutes before a Scott Phillips penalty in injury time doubled their advantage by the interval.

David Cockerill pulled one back for Parkgate, also from a spot kick on 52 minutes, before Stewart struck twice more to confirm the win for the home side.

Three Division One matches survived the bad weather with Shirebrook Town winning 2-1 at leaders Athersley Recreation to move up into second place, four points behind the table toppers.

Jason Bentley had put the hosts ahead early on but their lead was quickly cancelled out by Tom Mullen and Jason Bradley made sure of the victory for Mark Shaw's side with eleven minutes remaining.

AFC Emley have climbed up into third spot after their 6-0 home victory over Yorkshire Amateur, Ashley Flynn with a hat-trick and Doran Jordan with a brace after Joshua Cooke had opened the scoring.

And, Steve Bromley's 63rd minute strike was enough for sixth-placed Knaresborough Town as they won 1-0 at home to Dinnington Town.
