The second of the Floodlit Friday matches proved to be a highly entertaining clash in the Black Dragon Badges South division between local rivals Pinxton and South Normanton.
The crowd of 161 was treated to a full-blooded encounter which ended all square with the final score 2-2. The visitors took a 28th minute lead through Alex Statham and went further ahead with a Kevin Hemagou penalty on 39 minutes. Pinxton reduced the arrears on the stroke of half time, Liam Green setting up the second half nicely. After a red card reduced the Shiners to ten men, Jack Hawkins finally levelled eleven minutes from time. A second red for the visitors followed, their defence having to mount a rearguard action to keep out heavy pressure from Pinxton in the closing minutes.
A scoreline which may well be significant at the other end of the season at Coronation Park as visitors Sherwood Colliery came away with the points following a 2-0 defeat of Eastwood Community. Dale Gilliatt on 20 minutes and Liam Theakstone on 65 were the scorers as the Wood joined Pinxton at the top of the table.
AFC Kilburn picked up their first points in the league with a 2-1 win against Aslockton & Orston. Jake Davis opened the scoring for Kilburn in the 6th minute with a superb 30 yard dipping volley over the keeper, James Hallam equalising from the penalty spot seven minutes from the interval. The winner came from Jordan Hibberd ten minutes into the second half.

All the goals came in the second half as Mickleover RBL took the points with a 3-1 defeat of Blidworth Welfare. Josh Brentnall put Blidworth a goal up but strikes by David Moon, Jack Gill and Sam Tozer secured the points for the Legion. The other two matches saw the points shared.
Swanwick and Keyworth fought out a 1-1 draw at Highfield Road, Henry Brooks getting the Swans’ goal, James Price scoring for Keyworth while at Church Lane the match between Linby Colliery and Hilton Harriers produced that rarity – a goalless draw.

The result that catches the eye in the Black Dragon Badges North division was at Retford where the hosts drew 5-5 with Askern.
Retford raced into a four goal lead by the 32nd minute, an early own goal being added to by Adam Scott, Martin Woodhead and Arron Blakey before Askern recovered a little composure, Jason Kearsley scoring twice before the interval. Luke Williams reduced the deficit further on 64 minutes before Ash Evans completed the fightback with 15 minutes to play. Askern went ahead for the first time with eight minutes left, Tony Hattersley the scorer but the home side’s Steve Hutchinson stopped the rot two minutes later to claim a point.
Harworth Colliery maintained their perfect record in a closely fought 3-2 win at Dinnington Town who pushed them all the way. A Shaun Mundy goal gave Harworth the edge at the interval, an own goal two minutes after the restart levelling matters. Lewis Francis restored Harworth’s advantage with twenty minutes left, Matty Bradley again bringing things level from the penalty spot on 76 minutes. The winner came just two minutes later, Mundy’s second goal finally separating the teams.
Collingham suffered their first league defeat since the end of January as they went down 4-1 at Lincoln Moorlands. Luke Shipman and Simon Mowbray both scored twice to keep the Moors among the early front runners, Collingham’s George Asplin scoring their goal.
Clay Cross cantered to a 5-1 victory over Welbeck Lions. Lee Clay’s goal was the difference between the teams in the first 45 minutes, but Nathan Jessop’s penalty extended the lead before the Millers went well clear with a Jordan Hendley double and one for Devante Williams in the later stages. James Whitfield got a consolation for the Lions two minutes from time.
The points were shared at the Avenue as Rod Pursehouse’s second minute rocket from 25 yards for AFC Bentley was equalised by Appleby Frodingham’s Ryan Short after 9 minutes which brought an end to the scoring.
Two goals apiece for Joel Tomlinson and Alex Irwin saw Brodsworth Welfare to a 4-2 win at Newark Town for whom Adam Smith and Leighton Nicholson were the scorers.
It doesn’t get any easier for Renishaw Rangers who were on the wrong end of another hefty defeat, Phoenix running in eight to register their first win of the season. Adam Houghton with four, Tom Crosby, Dan Briggs scored for Phoenix with an own goal making up the total.

There were plenty of goals in the Macron Store Stoke Division One, Wirksworth Town leading the way with seven in their first home match against Holbrook St Michaels. Josh Middleton hit five, Ryan Marchington and Ryan Smith also finding the net.
Eastwood Community put five past Sherwood Colliery, Callum McGarry getting a hat trick, the other goals coming from Thomas Coupe and Leyton Nethercot.
Tom Sowden, Sam Westerman and a Kyle Pashley penalty saw Harworth Colliery to a 3-0 win at home to Heanor Town.
Retford United put a sizable dent in Swanwick’s winning start to the season, a Liam White hat trick plus goals from Callum Amendola, Zach Casburn and Cole Oliver giving them a 6-1 win, Swanwick’s goal scored by Luke Dearden.
Hucknall Town beat Holbrook Sports 3-1 with Adam Nelson, Ben Jones and Mitchell Slawson the scorers, Joe Gent replying for Sports, while Radford edged out Mickleover RBL 2-1 with Myles Gorey and Ola Ajewole the marksmen, Samson Kagani with one for the Legion.
