All the news from the midweek matches in the Floodlit and Division One Cups

The Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup got underway this week with five ties completed on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

The week’s ties saw good performances by several Division One teams.
On Tuesday Heanor Town Reserves pulled off an excellent 3-1 win away at Arnold Town. They took the lead from the penalty spot in the 16th minute, Alex Lynam the scorer, Chris Neilson equalising with half an hour played. The home side spurned a chance to take the lead with a second half penalty miss and were punished as Ewan Richardson put Arnold back in front on 55 minutes, Lynam converting his second penalty two minutes from time to complete the win.
Clifton All Whites Development pushed South Normanton Athletic all the way before going down 3-2 at Lees Lane. Henry Brooks opened the scoring for the Shiners, who were pegged back as Clifton scored through Ben Cooke and Sam Rothwell. An own goal put the home side on level terms who got the winner with a Sam Burrows goal.
Sherwood Colliery Reserves put their league form aside as they put six past Holbrook Sports without reply. Klarke Greenham scored the first of his three on 16 minutes, but the Wood took complete control in the second half. Jordan Ingram extended the lead on the hour with Greenham and Liam Carver adding goals midway through the half. Greenham’s hat trick goal came in the 84th minute, Ollie Case getting number six deep into added time.

Sheffield FC Reserves progressed to round two with a 2-0 defeat of Teversal Reserves. Ben Harriott scored the first in the 26th minute, Thomas Beck adding the second five minutes into the second half.
Clay Cross Town were pushed all the way by Ollerton Town Reserves before securing a narrow 4-3 win. Josh Parfitt and Callam Lytham both scored twice for the Millers with Tomi Abede, Leighton Platts and James Matthews on target for Ollerton.

In the Division One Cup Harworth Colliery and Pinxton took their game all the way to penalties. The match ended with the teams tied at 3-3. Michael Wibberley, Bayley Lowe and Brad Holmes all scored for Harworth, Pinxton’s reply coming from Harvey Ford, Kiam Nyemba and Perry Wilson before the shootout which Harworth won 4-2.
