The year 5 and 6 children from Glebe Junior School from South Normanton had planned their sponsored walk along the Five Pits Trail with the stop off at the Visitors Centre for their lunch and toilet break, but a lack of volunteers at the Centre meant that it was now closed on Thursday, the day of their walk. So the School contacted the football club to see if they could open up and provide use of their facilities and, without hesitation, the club said yes.
John and Karen Courtie, who run The Tevie Bar, opened up the ground and made the kids and teaching staff feel welcome.
A few days later, the club received the school's thanks in a letter addressed to the club and also received a mention in the school newsletter.
