"Tevie Shine Under The Lights”

Teversal came into the game on the back of tough 3-1 win at fellow struggler Derby Singh Brothers at the weekend. In the opening 15minutes Teversal settled in the game and were denied two golden goalscoring opportunities from the Assistants Referee flag, the first one saw Burton race away to knock the ball past Mickleover Keeper only for the flag to go up as he raced to finish the chance off. The second one was frustrating for the home side when a far post cross from Bamford found Baines to head back across goal for Parfitt to fire home, but again the flag went up. But the early signs were there for the visitors that the Tevie Boys were looking for their first back-to-back league wins.

Mickleover also started brightly too and looked a true threat on the break moving the ball quickly and stretching the play with a purpose, but the home rear-guard stood firm to keep the visitors out of harms way and made for an interesting and entertaining game.

On the half hour mark, Teversal again went close when McWilliams was given the time and space to go forward and unleashed a 20-yard effort that looked like it had beat Adul but the Keeper made the slightest of touches, helping the effort on to the bar to keep it at 0-0. That effort was the catalyst to Teversal having a period of sustained pressure that eventual saw Burton pick out Parfitt to produce a clinical strike from 12 yards which was too much for the Adul who made his best effort diving to his left but couldn’t prevent the Tevie Boys taking a deserved league.
Mickleover responded well and went into a purple patch themselves with Winfield having to be alert to make a save low to his right to deny Harry Banks. The visitors maintained the pressure with a couple of corners, but the home defence stuck to the task to keep their goal safe and keep the lead at the break, leaving the supporters wondering what way the game would go as it sat finely balanced.

Mickleover was first on the front foot forcing an early corner, but instead of the visitors pulling level, it was the host doubled their lead on 47 minutes with Sam Jackson breaking into the Mickleover half before seeing Parfitts excellent movement to create the space and time to receive the perfectly weighted threaded pass from Jackson to take the opportunity first team to pass past the advancing Adul with aplomb.

Things were going Teversal’s way and only 4 minutes later it was 3-0 when Parfitt completed his hat trick when finishing at the second attempt from Hadley’s clinically pass to pick out the striker to record his first triple for Tevie.

As the hour mark approached, Tevie had earned that bit of luck that they haven’t had all season, when goalmouth scramble saw a number of blocked efforts before Winfield produce a top draw save to deny Lewis Deavin by tipping on to the bar, Brealey then hit the loose ball against the near post with the ball going out to Bennett whose first time effort hit the opposite post before Hunter managed to clear the danger. This turned out to be the closest Mickleover would come in the game.

It was Teversal who regained the initiative with Burton being a thorn in the Mickleover side, but having forced Killingworth into giving the ball away, allowing the striker the opportunity to increase the lead, but Adul was forced into not one but two excellent saves to deny the Teversal marksman. On 82 minutes it was 4-0, Jackson and Hardy combined well down the right with the latter looking to find Burton but Killingworth managed to get enough on it to deny the striker, but the ball dropped invitingly to Hunter who produce an exquisite half volley to beat the keeper with pure power and accuracy leaving Adul with no chance.

This game came to a natural conclusion with it being a fine win with a clean sheet for the Tevie Boys, that sets them up for the big game with AFC Normanton at the weekend.
