Bottom of the table six pointer at Shirebrook Town

Teversal made the short trip to local rivals Shirebrook Town for a bottom of the table early season clash.

Early exchange of chances in the first minute, Cameron Pinnick dragging a shot wide of the post for Teversal and Sheldon Jordan forcing a save from Leon Turton with a powerful effort that the young keeper could only deflect over the bar. In an even start Joe Fox broke down Teversal’s left before pulling the ball back for Connor Bower to shoot high and wide.

Shirebrook had a good chance in the 12th minute when Kenan Mackenzie Grey connected with a cross but his effort struck Turton at point blank range, Teversal then scrambling the ball away. Jordan then glanced a header from a corner wide in the 17th minute. Shirebrook direct style was now causing Teversal a few problems.

Teversal grew into the game Pinnick with good hold up play to set Fox in down the right, Pinnick racing into the box to get on the end of Fox's cross but the ball got stuck under his feet and he was bundled over by the Shirebrook defender but referee Wishart waved the Teversal shouts for a penalty away. Teversal were now on top Jack McWilliams fired over from 25 yards after a powerful run forward. Macole Lannaman, Shirebooks number 6 was given a yellow for a lunging tackle from behind on George Simpson. Teversal's Jake Allen blazed over from distance followed by Jak Lightly with the same outcome. Allen then got one on target for Teversal as Tomlinson in the Shirebrook goal tipped his brilliant effort over. Shirebrook made an early sub as Joshua Devereux replaced Reece Treasure in the 34th minute.

Teversal were playing some great football without a final product but as is their norm of late went a goal behind in the 41st minute, McKenzie Grey received a quick throw down the line cut to the by-line to beat the Teversal defence and finished past Turton from an acute angle for 1-0. Teversal responded McWilliams played in a lovely ball from the left which was inches out of the reach of Pinnick, but Shirebrook relief was short lived as Pinnick received the ball from Bower just before half time he turned right then left before smashing the ball left footed past Tomlinson for 1-1.

Half time Shirebrook Town 1-1 Teversal

Teversal came out in determined mood for the second half but it was Shirebrook who had the first two chances as Keiron Sykes Tobin and Devereux both shot high and wide. Teversal had a great chance to go ahead in the 52nd minute Lightly broke down the left pulled the ball back to Pinnick who in turn laid off to Simpson whose first time shot brought a great save from Tomlinson down to his left. Shirebrook picked up another yellow for Mckenzie Grey kicking the ball away well after the whistle in the 58th minute and Teversal replaced Fox with Max Gee two minutes later.

Teversal continued to press forward, Gee playing in a lovely cross which Tomlinson somehow blocked with his legs just before Pinnick could finish. Allen found a great ball for Pinnick to chase onto the stocky forward smashed his shot into the side netting. In the 71st Simpson played Gee in down the right his shot was well saved by Tomlinson out for a corner, from the resultant kick Shirebrook somehow blocked two goal bound efforts from Callum Milner and Gee again. With Teversal pressing Shirebrook looked dangerous on the break, a cross field ball over Ryan Hancock found Nathan Jessop who flicked the ball past Turton but Joe Geeson was well placed to clear.

Both teams made changes in the 74th minute Kurtis Cockburn for Jordan Jones and for Teversal Deacon Lee for Jake Allen. Two minutes later against the run of play Shirebrook took the lead after gaining a free kick 25 yards from goal Devereux curled a fantastic curling shot into the top corner for 2-1 Shirebrook.

Teversal replaced the tiring Pinnick with Kieran Starbuck for his first team debut. Teversal had to respond but it was Shirebrook and Devereux again with a free kick that nearly increased the lead but this time he struck the cross bar. Shirebrook then knocked the stuffing out of Teversal when a cross field ball over Hancock to Jessop who crossed for Jordan to tap home for 3-1. Teversal couldn’t believe their luck they tried to respond Starbuck curling a nice cross just out of the reach of Lee and with seconds to go Teversal swung in a free kick Starbuck had a header blocked, Bower put the ball back in and somehow Simpson headed over from a yard out. Three points to Shirebrook.
