Another disappointing night for the Tevie boys.

Teversal were back at the Tomlin Personnel Park for the midweek game against second in the table Brigg Town. With yet another changed team Tevie hoped to compete with the team who travelled down from Lincolnshire.
Teversal started the game in a determined manner although a little too much as Joe Geeson picked up a yellow card in the third minute for a late(ish) tackle. Fairly even start Brigg having the best chance of the opening minutes when Oliver Fisher picked up a loose ball before crossing from the right finding Scott Phillips who should have done better with his header considering the space he was in but tamely headed over. Teversal picked up another yellow card this time for Ryan Hancock in the 11th minute for pulling back Phillips as he looked set to burst clear. The free kick from 22 yards out slightly to the left of the goal was struck well by Alfie Usher and it found the top right corner and 0-1 to Brigg Town.
Teversal to their credit were having a lot of possession and produced some good football. The front two pressed well and in the 16th minute Cam Pinnick forced a mistake before great interchange pf passing between Charlie Smith and Jak Lightly gave Smith time to cross but a little too close to the Brigg keeper. Teversal first shot on goal came in the 26th minute again great pressing forced the error this time by George Simpson, the Tevie captain laid to Max Gee who cut across the Brigg 18 yard area before working an angle to shoot but the effort lacked power and was easily saved. A minute later Jack McWilliams found Smith who lovely deft flick put Pinnick in, the stocky forward tried to burst through but was forced to check onto his left but his shot although on target was blocked well. Again great football from Tevie but no final product.
Teversal were competing well limiting Brigg’s efforts on goal to the bare minimum but there was always the threat on the break particularly with the pace of Dayle Hutson, but it was to be Phillips who ran onto a through ball in the 34th minute, the Tevie back line looked to have it covered but Phillips got his shot away which beat Mountcastle only to rebound back off the upright into the path of Andrew Taylor who from just outside the area calmy struck home with the Tevie keeper floundering to make the score 0-2 Brigg.
Another bitter blow for the Tevie lads but you have to put that behind you and go again which they continued to put passing moves together, again good pressing let Smith pick up the ball before sliding a pass through to Gee but again despite being well placed the shot lacked power and Fenty easily saved in the Brigg goal.

Half Time Teversal 0-2 Brigg Town

Teversal made a good start to the second half, Gee picked the ball up inside his own half before running forward drifting past players before shooting from just outside the box directly down my line of sight the ball looked to be heading for the far corner before the Brigg defence blocked the shot. Brigg made two substitutes Vincent replaced Taylor and Hutchinson replaced Phillips in the 52nd minute as Brigg stepped up the pressure on the Tevie boys trying to stop the little interchanges and joy they were having in midfield. Teversal responded with two changes of their own, Widdowson for Smith in the 54th minute followed by Fox on for Pinnick in the 61st minute.
Lots of competitive stuff in the middle third without either team creating any good chances. Brigg were a little eager going forward as like the first half the forward line was called offside by the assistant referee on many occasions. Brigg first real chance came in the 63rd minute when they broke down the right Owen Vincent the lively substitute got behind the Teversal defence before cutting the ball back but only to see Richardson smash the ball high over the bar. Brigg made their final change in the 70th minute Cousins on for Brigg captain McCarron, four minutes later Robbie Start picked up Brigg’s first yellow card with a deliberate block.
As seems to be the norm at the moment despite another decent period of play from Teversal Brigg extended their lead in the 77th minute after earning a free kick wide right, Alfie Usher played it short before receiving it back he struck from the angle which Mouncastle looked to have covered but the ball went through him and 0-3 Brigg. Eight minutes later Brigg put the game to bed when Vincent played in Hutchinson who outpaced the Tevie defence before finishing expertly for 0-4 Brigg.
Another disappointing night for Teversal despite some encouraging play Brigg always seemed to have another gear and when Teversal looked to be having joy they quickly imposed themselves back on the game in the second half to take the points back to Lincolnshire.

Final Score Teversal 0-4 Brigg Town
