Teversal get their first win of season in goal fest.

Teversal off the mark for first win of season after delayed start and goal fest. With Michael Ball finally making his delayed debut after signing from Shirebrook and after a delay of twenty minutes due to problems on the M1 we finally got back to league action after last weeks foray into the FA Vase.
Teversal got off to the perfect start taking the lead within three minutes, Brad Hall played a lovely ball inside the Humber right back for Tom Widdowson to run onto he delivered the perfect cross for Cam Pinnick to side foot home at the far post for 1-0 Teversal. Elliott Couldwell found space outside the Humber penalty area he put the ball onto his left foot but his shot skidded wide of the post. Humber gained parity in the 7th minute Jamie Phillips collected the ball outside the Tevie box played a sublime one two getting the ball back to close on Michael Ball and despite the new Tevie keepers best efforts Phillips finished well across the angle for 1-1.
Play was fairly even but Teversal looked very dangerous going forward and it was no surprise when they retook the lead in the 18th minute. Jake Allen sent Hall on his way down Teversal’s right he delivered a great ball across the area to pick out Widdowson whose left foot finish across Aidan Smith made the score 2-1. Hall had the chance to increase the lead a minute later when Pinnick and George Simpson combined but despite creating the shooting opportunity with his first touch the shot was high and wide. Pinnick had the chance to put Simpson in with an easy finish in the 28th minute when played in by Allen but he took the shot on himself and Smith saved easily down to his left. However Teversal didn’t have to wait long to increase their advantage in the 31st minute great play by Simpson as he turned the Humber defence inside out before laying off to Pinnick who played Hall through, the Tevie youngster finished expertly for 3-1.
FC Humber tried to respond, Louis Blackwell managed to pull a cross from the left down onto his left foot but could create no power and Ball easily stopped the shot, this was followed in the 40th minute with some great defending by Jack McWilliams who produced a great tackle to deny Humber a definite goal, Jonathon Wileman cut in from the left went past ball who sent him wide but McWilliams somehow got to the ball as Blackwell looked to pounce. FC Humber’s Craig Allen picked up a yellow for a trip then a pull back in the same move, from the free kick Widdowson shot from 30 yards out and Smith saved with a parry wide of the post. From the resultant corner Humber managed to scramble the ball clear as Tevie looked set to further increase the score.
Half Time Teversal 3-1 FC Hunber United
Second half started well for Teversal Pinnick with an early shot just wide of the upright after cutting in from the right but they then seemed to go to sleep credit to Humber as Leech came on at the restart pushing Baxter further forward as they pushed on the flanks. Blackwell spun Atkins from a throw in and Ball had to be alert to push his shot past the post quickly followed by another save from Brandon Burke as he squeezed through under pressure from Atkins. It was no surprise when Humber pulled a goal back in the 53rd minute as from a corner from their right Cam Davies found himself in space to power home a header for 3-2.
Couldwell picked up a yellow card for a very late challenge in the 54th minute followed by Joe Fox replacing the out of sorts Charlie Smith in the 56th minute. Humber missed a massive opportunity in the 57th minute when Ewan Hallows saw Ball tip his header over the bar and from the resultant corner Craig Allen blazed a wild shot wide. Humber’s Warwick-Atkin saw yellow for a studs up tackle on Hall and from the free kick Cal Milner headed over when he rose well. Things were getting a little tasty Allen picked up Teversal’s second yellow for a soft block in the 62nd minute. Blackwell saw his control let him down badly a minute later when he found himself one on one with Ball, the Tevie keeper smothered the ball. From Ball’s long kick up field Simpson flicked on to Pinnick who used his strength to hold off the defence before finishing expertly inside the post to put Teversal 4-2 up and give them the much needed two goal advantage.
Simpson had a great chance to put the game to bed in the 65th minute from Milner’s ball out from the back Simpson beat the shouts of offside to be clear through he decided to take it first time but only lifted the ball over the keeper but also well over the bar. FC Humber in an end to end open game responded with a Phillips shot just wide of the Teversal goal. Hancock replaced the tiring Couldwell for Teversal in the 66th minute. Amazingly Humber pulled a goal back in the 69th minute Hall played Simpson through who looked set to score for Teversal before a great goal line clearance Humber broke down their right and Brandon Burke finished off the move for 4-3. Jamie Baxter picked up a yellow for Humber, a nasty challenge from behind on Allen.
Teversal had two great chances as Fox and Widdowson had shots blocked on the line followed by a penalty shout for a challenge on Pinnick following great work by Fox on the right. Teversal increased the lead again in the 78th minute, a free kick from the right was scrambled clear Simpson got a touch to Fox who finished with aplomb inside the post for 5-3. Phillips picked up Humber third yellow for a late tackle on Hall before Teversal replaced Widdowson with Joe Geeson. Two more good chances followed for Teversal Pinnick again from Fox’s cross then Geeson had one cleared off the line before Milner headed over.
Humber had the final throw of the dice as the made two late subs before the final crazy five minutes. Tevie firstly increased the lead good play by Geeson onto Simpson who played inside to McWilliams, the left back played the perfect ball through to Pinnick who finished past Smith for his hat trick and 6-3 Teversal. Humber to their credit didn’t give up and went forward down their right the cross came over finding Blackwell in space and he scissor kicked to ball in for 6-4. But to have the final say Teversal again cut through the Humber defence Pinnick turning provider as he played through Hancock who finished well for 7-4 – very very strange game but three much needed points to Teversal
