A strong wind blowing across the pitch and slightly downhill was sure to play a part in the game and it was Rossington who looked to get that advantage in the first half. A poor throw in by Teversal in the 5th minute saw the Rossington midfield knock the ball through for Myron Gibbons to out pace the Tevie back line, run on and finish well past Joe Parker for 0-1 Rossington. Half Time Teversal 0-4 Rossington Main
The water bottles took one hell of a beating at half time as Teversal came out with their ears ringing. Something clicked as they were much more positive not letting Rossington settle on the ball. The intensity showed as Lewis Macaskill picked up a yellow card in the 54th minute but the older Macaskill was proving a thorn to Rossington as he was found by George Simpson but his early shot flashed wide of the goal. Teversal played a short corner between Bamford and Tyrone Macaskill in the 64th minute Macaskill cutting across the box from the left but his shot was easily saved low down by Kian Johnson. Rossington had fewer opportunities but managed one in the 66th minute as Greg Young headed a corner just over the Tevie cross bar.
Teversal had to replace George Simpson with Jack Hutchinson in the 69th minute, Simpson worryingly limping off with a pulled hamstring. Great play involving both Macaskill’s in the 75th minute as Ty Macaskill played in Bamford whose cross found Lewis Macaskill but he couldn’t keep his header below the cross bar. Bamford then found Pinnick in the 77th minute with a lovely ball inside on the left, Pinnick flashed a powerful left foot shot which hit the post but flashed across the goal. This was followed by a cross from the right again by Bamford which Lewis Macaskill acrobatically produced an overhead kick which was fantastically saved by Johnson out for a corner.
Teversal were pressing but it wasn’t to be their night as in the 85th minute Bamford found Ty Macaskill who played his brother Lewis in with the goalkeeper closing the gap Macaskill lifted the ball over the advancing keeper but also over the cross bar. Pinnick was replaced by Joe Millward in the 86th minute. Despite Teversal’s improved second half display they couldn’t cash in on any of the chances but hopefully will take some momentum into their next game.
