Whats gone wrong at Teversal?

Teversal were hopeful of addressing the alarming slide they were on but again due to availability of players due to 1st teams lack of numbers we had 3 subs, 1 was a keeper and the other wasn’t 100% fit. Joe Toons suspension also not helping , Jordan Schofield was nursing sore ribs and offered to help out but was not 100% partnering Pavinder Singh with Harvey Lane switching to left back, John Lee taking the right back slot with Scott Taylor promoted to the 1st team ,Ryan Brooks again in goal. Craig Newton, Ashley Wilson and Oscar Govan-Greenacre making up the midfield 3, the 2 wide men Toby Birch and Jamie Walters and the returning Joshua Radford up front, subs, Ben Griffiths , Jake Levers and Joseph Darby.

Dunkirk were the first on the offensive when a ball was squeezed inside John Lee in the right back slot and Alex Meehan pulled his effort wide.
Within a minute a corner swung in by Craig Newton was glanced wide by Toby Birch.
A lot of niggly pushing and pulling and general physicality from Dunkirk was being over looked by the referee which was winding up the Teversal players somewhat.
On 21 minutes a neat interchange from Dunkirk put Alex Meehan through on goal but his eventual chip didn’t quite have the height to beat Ryan Brooks in goal.
And within a minute it looked odds on that Lewis Walker was going to give Dunkirk the lead but a superb tackle by Jordan Schofield averted the danger.
32 minutes in Alex Eliker found himself in a shooting position and he forced a smart save from Ryan Brooks, and in the dying minutes a corner whipped in was headed goal ward by Lewis walker but Ryan Brooks made a comfortable save to make it 0-0 at half time.

We greeted the start of the 2nd half with Jordan Schofield being replaced by Jake Levers , and after Teversals players had been roughed up once to often John Lee lost his composure and found himself in the ref's notebook , quickly followed by Harvey Lane as tempers threatened to boil over as the Teversal players were finding the referees decision making kind of one sided to say the least and was not punishing a lot of gamesmanship from the visitors.
3 minutes later and Craig Newton took the rules into his own hands and found the ref less lenient towards the Teversal player. Teversal resolve finally cracked on 56 minutes as Lewis Walker was first to react to a left wing cross and with Teversal now behind and their discipline gone somewhat it was looking like being another Saturday to forget.

With 17 minutes to go Ben Griffiths had a run out replacing Jamie Walters and 4 minutes later Lewis Walker had again managed to finish from a ball pulled back from the bye line.
The final goal came in the 86th minute scored by Jack Upton as Teversal had given up the ghost .
Not to blame the referee for the score line as his decisions didn’t affect it, but the Teversal players got no protection from him, hardly any decisions and were easily got at by the visitors , a lesson to learn here maybe , you have to show some balls and rise above it or these results will continue.
A big cup game next Saturday away to Bingham towns 1st team and we need a big improvement by all in terms of togetherness and commitment and trying to do the basics again.

No man of the match as there clearly wasn`t one.
