Reserves back to winning ways at home.

Teversal once again had to make full use of the squad and the under 19's to field a strong team against Hilton Harriers. With a number of centre half's absent or injured Reserve captain Gary Atkins filled in at the side of Greg Smith, Danny Barke made his first start in midfield and Luke Hobson was given the role of striker alongside Jordan Black.

Within the first minute of the game Teversal had a great chance, Craig Newton put a free kick in from wide on the right Wood in the Hilton goal got a hand to the ball which fell to Jordan Black who got a shot off but was blocked by keeper and the defenders. Black was quick to react and his follow up effort was well saved by Wood. In the 11th minute good interchange of play starting with Kyle Bacon and Steven Mallinder creating another chance for Black who could only slice his effort well wide from 25 yards out.

Teversal were enjoying a good start to the game but in the 15th minute were forced into an early change as Danny Barke who twisted his knee in the warm up was replaced by Robbie Bestwick. This didn't stop the attacks coming when Bacon pinged a ball from left to right to find James Summers in the 17th minute, Summers cross found Bestwick who in turn had his shot well saved by Wood. Four minutes later Tevie took the lead when Bacon headed clear a Hilton corner the ball was played up field Bestwick nipped in to touch the ball forward to Black who bore down on the keeper one on one before coolly finishing under the advancing Wood who got at touch but couldn't prevent the ball finding the net and 1-0 Teversal.

Teversal continued to play some good interchanging football and it wasn't really till the 40th minute when Hilton had there first real chance when a cross field pass found Saville who flashed the ball well wide. Two minutes later Teversal thought they had increased the lead when Newton crossed, Black got his head to it but as the ball found the back of the net the referee blew for a push on the defender.

Half Time: Teversal Reserves 1 - 0 Hilton Harriers

After a great first half performance it was to be expected that Hilton would come out all guns blazing which proved the case and a very slow start by Teversal led to early pressure. Saville went close when he headed wide from a corner in the 47th minute followed a little later by a great save from Cameron Barke from a curling effort. From the resultant corner in the 56th minute Hilton found the equaliser following a bit of ping pong in the box Tevie failed to clear and Jamie Atkinson stabbed the ball home for 1-1.

Teversal had to up it and up it they did as they re took the lead in the 60th minute after some good ratting it midfield Luke Hobson flicked the ball onto Black who took the ball in his stride before finishing well and 2-1 Teversal. Tevie were regaining some of the control they had in the first half without creating any clear chances. Hobson was replaced by Joe Fox in the 75th minute and a minute later Hilton came very close to the equaliser as Teversal lost the ball up field they broke forward and substitute Wilson found himself one on one with Cam Barke who did brilliantly to race off his line and smother the attempt on goal.

In the 81st minute Abbey for Hilton headed wide from a corner as Hilton tried to ramp up the pressure in the final minutes. Teversal tried to use the pace of Fox to finish the game off but still couldn't find the killer blow. Bestwick was replaced by Kyle Pottage-Coleman as the time was up and with seconds left Hilton had one final chance when following a massive scramble in the box Barke managed to block a goal bound effort and with bodies being thrown in front of the ball Teversal hung on for the win.

Final Score: Teversal reserves 2 - 1 Hilton Harriers

Proud of the lads to bounce back from the last game. Overall we controlled and deserved the win but with a tight score line you just never know.
Man of the Match: Craig Newton - good performance form Craig who distributes the ball well and is gaining valuable fitness.
