Plenty of positives even in opening day defeat

A very youthful Tevie side took on an experienced Blidwoth Welfare in their opening Central Midlands fixture. The home side started the better of the two sides and had several free kicks on and around the 18 yard area but they didn’t take advantage of the good situations not troubling Alex Buttery in the Tevie goal. 16 minutes in Blidworth forced Buttery into a smart save but couldn’t take advantage of the resulting corner. Next action saw Buttery tipping over a 20 yard effort from Lee Townsend this was then followed by two penalty appeals from the home side. One a handball against Peter Dunn when charging down a cross then an alleged foul on Batty again waved away by the referee. Next action saw Paul Revuelta chip the ball over the advancing keeper but Ethan Little got back in the nick of time to clear it off the line then on 39 minutes yet another penalty appeal for handball this time the referee pointed to the spot Paul Revuelta made no mistake giving the home side the lead. Tevie hit straight back with their best chance of the first half seeing Jack Bradley through on goal but Adam Revuelta saved well to prevent an equaliser. Last action saw Blidworth miss a great chance with an open goal but the striker managed to miss the target. The second half was a more even affair with the Tevie youngsters growing into the game 55 minutes saw the first yellow card of the game being issued to Deacon Lee for an altercation with a Blidworth player. Both sides continued to make chances but none of them forcing either keeper into a save. The Teversal side never gave up and battled to the end even after a flare was thrown onto the pitch still they pushed forward for an equaliser. A lose but the future looks bright after this display especially when Peter Dunn went of injured meaning all the player were under 20.
