The season began for a number of teams this afternoon with matches taking place in all four divisions.

In the Black Dragon Badges North division it was the Josh Parfitt show for the second Saturday running. He found the net five times as Clay Cross Town battered Newark Town into submission with a 9-1 win, taking his total to nine in just two matches. The Millers were two up by the 9th minute, Parfitt and Jordan Hendley both on target. Joel Holland and Parfitt’s second took the margin to four by half time before the tall striker hit another treble in the first quarter of an hour of the second period. Ricky Peterson did manage to get one for the visitors on 71 minutes, but Lee Clay and Alex Hewitt struck late on to compound Newark’s misery. A nice touch at the end saw League president Tony Baugh, still enjoying his football at the age of 90 present the man of the match award.
Renishaw Rangers made it two from two as they came out on top 2-1 at home to Appleby Frodingham. Aiden McTighe and Jordan Parsons were the match winners, Harry Burnett-Haynes replying for the Scunthorpe side.
Retford United recovered from their defeat on the opening day by beating Dinnington Town 4-0 at Cannon Park. Jimmy Eyles scored after three minutes, adding a second before the interval with Ryan Smyth grabbing two in the second half to complete the win.
Askern got off to a winning start at Thorne Colliery, Josh Taylor putting them in front on 25 minutes and getting another on the stroke of half time, Shane Carver scoring 15 minutes from time to give the visitors a 3-0 win.
Tideswell United beat fancied Retford FC 2-0, both goals coming from the prolific Jack Bradbury including one from the penalty spot. Phoenix put last week’s visit to Clay Cross behind them as Carl Hemming’s 24th minute goal gave them all three points at Dronfield Town Reserves.

The Black Dragon Badges South Division fixtures haven’t been very kind to Holbrook St Michaels, travels to Hucknall Town and Pinxton in the first week not being the ideal way to start the season. Pinxton inflicted a second 5-1 defeat on Saturday, with Kieran Debrouwer’s hat trick doing most of the damage. Jay Cooper set things in motion on 10 minutes, with Debrouwer and Pete Stubley adding to the lead before Dominic Hayes got one back on 40 minutes. Debrower restored the three goal lead two minutes later, completing his treble with 65 played.
Hucknall also scored five at Blidworth Welfare. Jamie Crawford put Hucknall ahead with Cameron Davidson levelling. A Joe Ashurst double gave the visitors a healthy interval lead, and despite Jonathon Jenkinson’s goal for Blidworth further goals for Crawford and Ashurst saw the game finish 5-2.
Some familiar names were among the goals for Swanwick in their 4-3 defeat of newcomers Ashland Rovers. Guy Wilding (2), Henry Brooks and Shane Buckerfield all found the net for the Swans while the unfortunate Tom Blaney got no reward for his hat-trick for Ashland.
Holbrook Sports’ return to the league saw them go down 2-1 at home to Matlock Town Reserves. Declan Sorrell gave the young Gladiators a 21st minute lead which Ashton Hall doubled with 53 minutes on the clock. Dominic Holder did pull one back in the 71st minute but Sports couldn’t find an equaliser.
Underwood Villa got their first points at the second attempt with a 2-1 win over AFC Kilburn. Sam Taylor and Jason Gooch were the winners for Villa with Jack Gaucher on the scoresheet for Kilburn.
Mickleover RBL drew for the second match running, Abidemi Lamina’s goal being equalised By Hilton Harriers’ Dan Waltho.

The Macron Store Stoke Division One got underway with four matches in the north and two in the south.

Alfreton Town Reserves laid down a marker in the north division, beating Retford United Development 8-1 at North Street. Alfreton’s marksmen were Harvey Grice, whose four goals included two from the penalty spot, Morgan Brough and Kieron Hinchley who got two apiece. Rich Williams got a consolation for Retford.
Crowle Town Colts also got off to a winning start, coming out on top 4-1 at Hucknall Town Reserves. Scorers for Crowle were Adam Hearn, Joe Mansfield, Tom Finnegan and Danny Smyth, Hucknall replying through Joshua Pedro.
There were 2-2 draws in the other two games. AFC Bentley Development and Linby Colliery Reserves shared the points at the Avenue, Matty Hughes and Abdul Fairclough’s goals for Bentley being chalked off by Linby’s Travis Shooter and Ryan Butler.
A point apiece also at Scrooby Road, Connor Brown’s two for Harworth Colliery reserves answered by Mitchell Wayne and an own goal for Sutton Rovers.

In the South, Long Eaton United Community’s debut saw them take three points from fellow newcomers Bakewell Town. The match finished 3-2 with Aboo Younis, Nathan Banton and Pat Goral scoring for Long Eaton, Jonathan Hutchinson and James Hill the scorers for Bakewell.
There was success also for Wirksworth Ivanhoe who won 2-1 at AFC Kilburn Development. The visitors’ goals came from Jack Higton and Dan Watson, Rory Beresford with the Kilburn goal.
