MATCH REPORT 19.12.2015 - Compiled by Mandy Wilkinson

TEVIE BOYS TRIUMPH IN TOP OF THE TABLE THRILLER

Teversal travelled again to Nottingham to take on the League Leaders and undefeated Pelican. As the game started both sides were looking strong and it was always going to be a tough one. Play was end to end with majority seemingly being Pelican led, but then 10 minutes in Liam Widdowson was fouled just outside the area and the referee awarded a free kick, superbly taken by Rhys Williams who buried the ball in the top left corner. 0-1. Minutes later a foul by Billy Bradley resulted in a penalty being awarded to Pelican, calmly taken by the Pelican player and levelling the score 1-1. This was looking like it was going to be an action packed match. Pelican piled on the pressure but the Teversal defence stood firm. Teversal created further chances but none were hitting home, the first half was over. HT Score 1-1.

Both teams came out fighting in the second half and it wasn’t long before Luke Bacon received the ball in the middle, played it wide left to Callum Wilkinson, who drilled the ball low to the back post to Danny Darlow’s feet who neatly slotted it home 1-2, closely followed by a nicely weighted header on the right that split the pelican defence and Danny Darlow chased the loose ball down and secured his second goal. 1-3. Pelican were beginning to feel the pace of Teversal and were finding it a little hard to keep up at times. Danny Darlow came again through the Pelican defence and put the ball to the left side of the keeper to make his hatrick, 1-4. A wayward tackle by Pelican gives Teversal a free kick, great delivery into the box by Luke Bacon and headed home by Rhys Williams to the keepers near post. 1-5. Play continued to be mainly Teversal driven and a penalty decision was denied in the final minute as Callum Wilkinson was brought down in the box. However a great team effort again. The stamina of the Teversal side was undeniably a factor today, and the first defeat of the season for Pelican.
