A battling performance was needed today as the Under 11's beat Shirebrook.
Shirebrook were to start the brighter today and it was not a surprise when an attack down their left created the first goal of the game as the ball was swung deep to the edge of the box and well finished by the attacker low to his left. Teversal 0-1 Shirebrook.
The game was then fought out in front of the Teversal defence for long periods of the first half with Teversal breaking occasionally via Lewis M and James N. It was from one of these breaks down the left that Teversal hit back.
Kieran H cleared the ball to Lewis M who's great run and cross was met by James N at the far post to level. Teversal 1-1 Shirebrook.
Shirebrook were then to go close after being awarded a free kick on the left edge of the box when the ball was swung in to flash across the face of goal.
Teversal then broke via Lewis M and James N and a neat one two between them saw James N shoot, the keeper parried but the ball was cleared to Ben T in midfield on the right, he delivered the ball back into the box, James N cracked another shot at goal and the keeper parried again but this time it fell to Lewis M who swept the ball into the net. Teversal 2-1 Shirebrook.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Shirebrook pressing and looking dangerous as players from deep looked to latch onto balls into the box. They attacked down their right and a shot was hit low, just past the left hand post.
Rowan S then blocks in midfield and knocks a high ball forward and Lewis M latches onto it and finishes for his second of the game. Teversal 3-1 Shirebrook..
Shirebrook attack down their left and get a sight on goal tight to the left and Jez E has to make a last gasp block for a corner.
Teversal break from a throw in and Lewis M is on goal but a heavy touch lets in the keeper to scoop the ball into his chest.
Shirebrook press forward late on and Josh E makes two fantastic saves both from shots at the centre/edge of the penalty area to deny the Shirebrook team as they look to get back into the game. But it was not to be and at full time Tevie gain a hard fought victory.
