All at Thackley are crossing their fingers in the hope of seeing some action on Saturday when they are scheduled to make the trip to play against AFC Mansfield. It is hoped that the Forest Town Stadium has managed to steer clear of the worst of the recent bad weather and the game gets the go ahead. The Bulls are a very young club but have achieved quite a lot in the eight years since they were founded. They won promotion to the NCEL in 2014 and moved to the Premier Division two years later. They moved up to the Northern Premier League in 2018 but lasted just one year, relegated back to the NCEL due to ground grading issues.
Initially they took some time to get going at the beginning of this season and were hovering around the relegation zone. However, results have picked up recently and they are currently sixteenth in the table with twenty four points from twenty three games. They are unbeaten in their last three games, like Thackley they did not play last weekend, in their last game the beat Athersley 2-0.
Thackley have yet to beat the Bulls, the two have not met yet this season, but in their previous four meetings Mansfield came out on top in three the other game finishing all square.
Thackley are in need of some game time, having had their last three postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. In their last game they were disappointingly beaten at Bottesford in a game badly affected by the wind. However, prior to that they played some of their best football of the season, going on a mini run of three games unbeaten.
If Thackley can produce some of their pre Bottesford form they could be coming back from Mansfield with their first triumph against the Bulls.
