Tail-End heroics secure 4th win in a row

A short report this week as I wasn't at the game.

Winning the toss and electing to bowl, The Mote made steady progress with Rhys Williams and Paul Usher opening the bowling. Usher made the first breakthrough but progress was hard going from then on, as a couple of chances went begging.

With one side of the wicket having a short boundary, Skipper Bell opted to operate spin solely from one end - meaning James Leggett had his longest spell of bowling ever - he finished with the credible figures of 0-55 from 13 overs, in his first bowl in league cricket.

Bell kept things tight at the other end, ably supported in due course by Jared Hood. The introduction of Dan Taylor had the desired effect has he took 3 quick wickets.

Overall, restricting the home side to 177 was a reasonable effort however it should really have been less if chances were taken.

The reply didn't get off to a great start with Jason White and Nick Waite both departing early. Corke and Talyor steadied the ship, along with James Leggett. However a sudden collapse ensued leaving the visitors 119-8 and starring down the barrel of a heavy defeat.

However, the tail did wag, as Chris Bell and Rhys Williams put on 50 for the 8th wicket to complete a fantastic victory, Rhys scoring the winning runs with a tremendous 6.

Next week the 2's are at home to Bickley Park.
