Rain affected Home tie vs Belvedere 2s

Summary: A day that saw many games rained off or rain affected. Both captains decided that the game should be reduced to the maximum amount in order to fit the game in. This resulted in a 26 over a side game with 2 bowlers being able to bowl 7 and 2 able to bowl 6. The Mote won the toss and opted to put the opposition into bat. Belvedere showed intent early up and got themselves into a very strong position. Martin Prudence being the pick of the bowlers only going for minimal runs off his seven overs however unfortunately not taking a wicket. Lewis Bone took 2 of the 4 wickets, with both being bowled and hitting centre stump. Rob Adams took a caught and bowled and the final being a run out. Belvedere set The Mote 206 to chase don in 26 overs. This looked very unlikely for the off but the 4th XI did themselves proud and showed fight and desire and many positives can be taken from this. In such a chase to reach 181 and get 7 bonus batting points was a massive plus. We also saw the opening partnership of Alex Bone and Steve Buckland flourish once again. Martin Prudence also picked up a few runs before his dismissal. Real positives were shown in the partnership of Jonathan Crowhurst and James Waterson who continually picked up bonus points as we got closer and closer to the total. Jonathan Crowhurst got a respectable 34 runs and James Waterson got his best ever score and showed some great belief in his own ability with 36 not out. Lots of encouraging signs for the future and again that we can compete in differing situations.
