The year was 2002 and the location was an Accountancy firm’s office at Westpac Tower, Auckland when the Phantom name was born. While rumours spread throughout the Auckland office of who could have been the Phantom, the individual was never confirmed so forth its legacy continues.
Fast forward to 2009 London, several Kiwi mates and friends including members of the infamous Accountancy firm banded together over a few pints and strawberry ciders at the Volunteer to form the Phantom Touch team franchise.
Sadly over time, original members slowly moved on by returning home to great Aotearoa or pursue lucrative basketball and boxing deals. With the slow exodus of players and the Phantom franchise being tagged as the ‘bad boys’ of Regent Park, time was up for the Phantoms franchise and the dawn for a new era.
As seasons went by, some members played for other teams while others retired. It was not until the summer of 2014 before the touch rugby community rumours were realised as the former Phantom members decided to regroup with new fitter and enthusiastic members under the rebranded name “Quick Service”. Quick Service touch team has entered mixed teams since summer 2014 and the rest is history.
