Thetford had high hopes going into this game with good availability and a strong squad on paper. But call offs during the week and on the day of the game left Thetford short in key positions. This forced Thetford to field players in positions they had never played before most notably at Hooker and Scrum Half.
The Early exchanges suggested this could be a hotly contested game still. With Thetford dominating scrums and Southwold looking to run wide.
However this was not to be as Thetford backs could not find any let up from the Southwold defence that the Thetford forwards were providing from Scrums. Southwold were using there young well drilled backs to exploit space and would eventually score after 10mins of players.
A further 3 tries followed for Southwold again using there backs out wide.
Thetford would get a consolation try in the first half after a break down the blindside from Adam Brown took them into opponents 22, a few more heavy carries from Shaun Thomson, Phil Johns & Kalem would allow Dave Horne to score.
This was to prove the highlight of the game for Thetford as they struggled to get a good foot hold in the game and were handing over possession at will, allowing to Southwold to press home there advantage and put the game well beyond Thetford.
Thetford travel to Crusadres on the 1st December which will also prove an equally difficult test for them.
