Town started very well and soon settled down into playing some great football. Jordan Attree and Robbie Priddle were working their socks off upfront whilst Cameron King and Ross Bailey were dominating in midfield. Dane Coomber-Willis who hasn't started a game played centre half alongside Luke Bailey and was outstanding on the night. Thetford took the lead through great build up play and the lively Johnny Conroy opened his account with a fine left footed finish across the 'keeper to make it 0-1. Soon, after a long punt upfield by the Kirkley goalkeeper saw the ball flicked on into the path of Ross King who hit a volley over Kingsley Barnes to equalise with a good finish. Some more great passing by town saw Johnny Conroy receive the ball on the left before beating one man and showing great feet to draw a foul and win a free kick 25 yards out. Cameron King stepped up and curled the ball into the top corner to make if 2-1 with an outstanding finish. Kirkley rarely threatened the town goal and a move down the right saw Sam Bond show tremendous skills in the box to create another chance. Max Melanson then delivered a great ball in for Jordy Attree to volley home only for the linesman to raise his flag for offside. The half finished 1-2.
Second half saw town come out in the same way as they started. As the game went on Cameron King was proving to be a real danger running at the opposition at every opportunity causing many problems. A great move saw him receive the ball before beating 2 men then flicking the ball over the defenders head before cutting back inside to coolly slot home for the teams 3rd, and his 2nd of the game. Johnny Conroy was replaced by Dean Mortimer, the hardworking Jordan Attree came off for Ryan Fuller, and gaffer Danny White replaced Cameron King. Ryan and Dean made an impact and it was Ryan Fuller who brilliantly held of the centre half before shooting just wide of the post. Kirkley got a consolation goal in stoppage time to make the game appear closer than it actually was. This was a fantastic team performance and a very hard fought 3 points against a very good Kirkley team.
