Nathan Brown to continue for a second season

We are delighted to announce that this season's 1st XV Captain will be Nathan Brown for the second consecutive season - Congratulations !

Here are some words from our Captain:

“It is a great privilege to be given the role of 1st XV Captain again this season, as Thirsk Rugby Club is a team I have played for as long as I can remember. I really hope I will continue to have a positive impact on the club as Captain and I am very ready for the new season ahead.

“Here’s to a great season of rugby, something we have really missed. I really hope we can show some real commitment and determination and put our absolute all into the push for promotion - we go again”.

Chris Wood and Joshua Sutcliffe were unanimously voted in by fellow players as joint vice captains.

Vice Captains Jj and Chris said on Nathan’s appointment:

"We could not be happier with his appointment and look forward to supporting him as Vice Captains . He is a huge personality in squad, is passionate about everything Thirsk Rugby and leads from the front in his performances out on the field. We are looking forward to developing our partnership over this coming season and help take the club forward on and off the pitch. We have some promising new additions to our squad for this season, which partnered with some great players already part of the club should make for an exciting season.”

Senior coach Sarge commented “I can’t be anything else but pleased with the appointment of these three players, having either played through our junior section into seniors or joining the club as young adults, they are tight both on and off the pitch and have been integral to the growth of our senior team over recent years and get what we are about at Thirsk 100%.”

He added, “There is huge ability and potential across the squad, they have seen first hand how effective the style of rugby we play can be, but consistency in executing it across the season has proved illusive. The challenge for me and the coaching team this season is not to reinvent the wheel, or change the brand of rugby we play, but to give the squad the tools to find that consistency and continue the growth as a team”.
