MATCH REPORT 24/09/2022

What an afternoon! The team rolled into West Yorkshire ready for their 4th game of the season. Hoping to bring back another win after last weeks come back they were ready!
In a game of two halves, Ossett powered through with a 3pt penalty, an impressive 4 minutes into game play! Hoping that didn’t set the tone for the rest of the game, Angus and Evan pushed through with some big hits saving Thirsk territory.
Scatchard came through with lightning speed out wide but was caught out with Ossett following on with a barrage of clear outs.

By this point, Thirsk were falling short, holding fast, but waiting for the break through.
20 minutes into play saw Evan rampage for the break through Thirsk needed, but Ossett were hot to pull him back.
The close off from the 1st half saw Ossett leading 3-0 and Thirsk needing to step up and find their dominance in the game!

Kick off to the 2nd half showed Thirsk finding their momentum, with our backs gathering strength in the legs. Dan Rayner tipped out after a ‘cracking’ lip injury. With Dan off the pitch, Adam Marsden powered through with a cracking kick chase taking the penalty which saw Thirsk convert their 3 points!

Time was ticking and with a close match finish Ossett gained 3 points for holding on. Ready to pull this back, Joseph Scatchard charges down for the try with Matt Brown pulling in the conversion. With the clock ticking down. Thirsk were holding off Ossett with hard hits! Dan Rayner was back on the pitch and drove it over the line after a well worked team effort. Matt Brown took the conversion again!

An encouraging show of fight in the last few minutes saw Sam Greenwood hit the try. No conversion came but that didn’t matter. Thirsk definitely left a few tries out there on the field, and the final try score came from Ossett. They fired down the line with one final converted try, but Thirsk walked away with 13-20 win! ?⚫️?

With passionate game play and real sense of team effort, Ossett was welcoming and Thirsk will be sure to give them a good home game later in season!
The whole team is wishing Sam Greenwood a speedy recovery. It was his debut match with Thirsk, scored a try but he has managed to come away with a fractured ankle ?
Why don’t you head down to TAS&SC to watch our first home game of the season. Will the spectators help Thirsk see through a 3rd win?!
