Have we at last found how to score?

The boys under 10 B team were at Leeds on Sunday, 17th March, for their second appearance in the YYHL.
The boys were supported by Rebecca in goal and Mary in defence with Ned and Harry. Then Oliver Q, Oliver S in the midfield and Ewan as a lone forward.
The team put in a sterling performance, keeping positions so that wide passes were always on. Marking with their stick on the ground and chasing every loose ball.
Started against City of York C team. First game on and despite the cold wind, kept harassing the York players. Thirsk were a better team in terms of positional play and ball control but could not break through the York defence. Result 0-0. Then came Chapletown A team, who had some skillful players. Despite some desperate defence the team went down 2-0. Two games off and then Ben Rhydding C team. A better performance but still lost 1-0. Next was Ben Rhydding D who seemed to be stronger than their C team and ran out 2-0 winners. Last game was Brigg who needed to win to gain promotion. Plenty of support from the parents and directions from the coach, saw the team really getting together. Rebecca covered their attempts at goal and with several free hits near the Brigg D the ball found its way through a bunch of players and there was Ewan to strike it into the goal. Yes a goal at last. Only a minute or so left and with more good tackling we saw the time out and finished 1-0 winners. Thanks to the parents for their support and transportation of players. Special thanks to the girls for making up the team, and well done to all the players, the coach was very pleased and proud of your efforts.
