An away trip with a great result.

Thirsk ladies 1s faced top of the Premiership side City of York 2 away this Saturday. The pressure was on from the outset. For the first 15 minutes of play, each team strove to gain the upper hand. Central Midfield duo Annabel Hill and Grace Walker kept battling continuously trying to breach a hole into York's defence. Opportunity finally arose for Thirsk when super striker Bea Bell bested 2 of York's players in the opposing D to score the first goal of the game. For the remainder of the half each team kept vying for the upper hand but the score remained 1-0 in Thirsk favour. York scored their only goal 20 minutes into the second half. This was the wake up call Thirsk needed and resulted in Bea Bell once again beating York's defence to score the final goal of the game. Thirsk held it together and never stopped battling until the final whistle sounded. Maximum effort from the whole team resulted in the final score being 2-1 in Thirsk's favour, making them joint top of the league! Player of the match was unanimously awarded to Keeper Val Grainger for her sterling work in goal.
