A cool morning in Thirsk.
A close contest.
The first return match of the season saw Thirsk keen to beat Halifax on home turf after a 5 - 2 loss at the beginning of the season! From the whistle it was clear it was going to be a stretching game for both sides. Thirsk opened the scoring with an impressive goal from Charlotte Roberts. Halifax retaliated quickly! With Thirsk having majority of possession in the first half Sophie Lake secured a second goal following some beautiful stick work and very impressive pressing. The first half finished at 2 -1.
Halifax came back strongly in the second half! Play started to go end to end! Halifax scored a text book short corner goal! Both teams could feel the pressure! Halifax managed to break through our defence and despite some great goal keeping by Marian Maurice Halifax grabbed a third goal. Thirsk showed great resilience and battled on. Short corners came in abundance for the home team but they were prevented from scoring. They eventually got a open run and showing their speed they got the ball to Gina Garnett who finished it off beautifully! The score equal with 10 minutes to go. Both teams dug deep but Halifax capitalised on an open goal and managed to get a fourth goal. The final score was 3-4. Kat Bower won man of the match for her strong contribution to the game.
