A tough opposition comes to Thirsk.
By Mike Rushmere
The 1st home game of the season saw ex 1st division team Tadcaster Magnets arrive at Thirsk Astro.
Tadcaster started off the stronger team but Thirsk gradually found their feet and started creating chances but found Taddys keeper in good form. Meanwhile Thirsk defence was holding the opposition at bay and if they did break thŕu Emily worked her magic in goal. So it was 0-0 at halftime with both defences on top.
2nd half started off the same with neither team creating any clear cut chances until a shot on goal was deflected off a stick high over Emily into the Thirsk net. Thirsk rode a storm for the next 5 mins before a final push saw them create numerous chances which unfortunately they could not convert, including Ellen's shot which was heading for the top corner until it was stopped by a great save from the Taddy keeper. So the ladies were condemned to their 1st defeat of the season.
