Men’s 2’s beat brigg away 2-0
By Mike Rushmere
And here is the match report :-
The 2s made the journey to Brigg this Saturday with a strong squad of 14 looking to create a bit of daylight between us and them. The team arrived promptly to find a man who shall remain unnamed (AC) tucked away in the bar. As the team went out to warm up, with a mere 5 balls between them thanks to Hughes, it appeared that today was certainly going to be the day that the snitch (GH) became appointed DOTD after lifting a ball over the fence and failing to get it back. We started off slowly for the first 20 minutes as we struggled to keep the passes short, sharp and concise. Instead we opted for a long ball approach that failed to work. However, we soon got into the game and began to move the ageing Brigg midfield around the pitch, creating gaps in their back four and filling those gaps with willing, youthful, skilful runners. No offence Carney. The formation was now beginning to show its strengths and as soon as the ball was won back we were pressing Brigg back deep into their 23. Eventually a break came as Jake mesmerised the opposition with skill and caused them to concede. 1-0. The pressure continued to build as the second half came about and we constantly kept peppering their back 4, with Rafe, Pat, Tom and Mr lover lover who isn’t talking to his ex but is talking to his ex because he still loves her. (Josh Dale). To be fair Josh had a great game, but I can’t help feeling that’s down to his old flame inspiring him. Anyway we bagged a second and managed to see the game out as a unit with the score finishing 2-0. Great team performance and on to next weekend.
