John played for the 4ths/Vandals from 1988 to 1994, making 76 appearances.

After he stopped playing he served on the club’s senior committee for several season. John’s wife Marion was also an important volunteer when Chair of the Ladies committee.

His son Steve (Smudge) still pulls on his boots for the Seconds. His other son Adrian played throughout Thornbury Juniors.

There will be a minute's silence for John ahead of the home match with Longlevens on January 17th.
