Eventually the pressure told and William D’Arcy played Lewis Poulson through and he beat the keeper to make it 1 0. Two further goals in the next two minutes by Lennie Dunford with two further assists from William put Thornes 3-0 up.

Townville threatened on a couple of occasions but good defending by Dale Taylor-Burnley and Rohan Damle backed up by Emily Batt and Joseph Brook kept the home team at bay.

Lennie Dunford completed his hat trick on 30 minutes when he was played through by Marcel Solek and it was Marcel this time played through by Lennie who made it 5-0 at half time.

In the second half Thornes did not let up and it was Marcel again who hit a wonderful half volley into the far corner.

Tafara Tigere was the next to score which was well deserved. Sam Sharkey played a delightful cross which eluded everyone except for Tafara at the far post who poked the ball home.

Lewis Poulson scored Thornes eighth after William’s shot was parried and it was William that hit a deserved goal after some great play by Lewis and Lennie who played William in to score.

Lennie rounded things off for Thornes with his fourth and Thornes tenth when Lewis played a delightful ball through for Lennie to run on and slot the ball home.

Arun Parmar had a great debut in midfield along with George Crook who again was outstanding.
