Thornes travelled to Brierley Cubs Yellows in a cup match.

We made the perfect start after some quick thinking from Harry Charles who took a quick, short corner to Thomas Waldie who ran with the ball and forced the ball into the goal. Thornes defenders Mal Thorpe and Riley Barnes pushed on to support the wingers, as Thornes searched for more goals.
Brierley responded well with two goals before half time. Alfie Warrior levelled just before half time, following some good work by Thomas Waldie, getting in behind the goal keeper before smashing the ball into an empty net.
Thornes were attacking downhill in the second half and soon started to gain more of a grip on the match, with Tom Whiteside in particular winning his midfield battles.
Thomas Waldie scored a great goal after some good footwork, firing into the far corner. Alfie Warrior then scored his second with a neat finish.
Alfie then turned provider when his cross from the left wing looper over the goalkeeper presenting Harry Charles with a tap in into the empty net.
Thomas Waldie and Alfie Warrior then completed their hattricks, the perfect reward for their outstanding performances.
Brierley scored a consolation when they were awarded a penalty following a challenge by Musa Waggeh. Oliver Corbett made a great save from the penalty but the rebound was blasted into the goal.
QTS Man of the Match: Riley Barnes.

The Development game was a much tighter affair. It took a great solo effort from Mal Thorpe to break the deadlock. He sprinted down the left wing, before striking the ball into the far corner of the goal. Jacob Hutchinson almost made it 2-0, after carving his own chance out but his effort hit the edge of the post and rolled wide. Tom Whiteside made a great save, coming out to thwart a one on one opportunity.
Thornes continued to push forward with Oliver Corbett bursting through the middle.
In the second half Niall Ryan also hit the post, with the rebound being saved by the goalkeeper.
Jack Ramswell was once again impressive in defence, driving his team forward.
Tom Whiteside made another great save late on to keep a clean sheet.
QTS Man of the Match: Tom Whiteside.
