Thornes started brightly and were keeping Alverthorpe at bay with some fine tackling and determination and it was that determination that gave Thornes the lead. Some tough tackling In midfield saw the ball break to Lewis Poulson who in turn passed to Lennie Dunford who passed to Ethan Train who went past one defender and held off another to knock the ball into the corner.

Alverthorpe turned the screw and started to make chances but Sam Stringer stood firm in nets and pulled off a couple of good saves however he was unable to do much about Alverthorpe’s equaliser when a well taken shot was disposed well into the Thornes goal.

Into the second half and again Thornes came out battling but a couple of mistakes gave Alverthorpe a two goal cushion. Lennie Dunford now in goal pulled off a couple of good saves and Lewis Larder was great in midfield but it was Kassey Dibassey who gave Thornes hope with a great run and a pass to Ethan Train who shot but the keeper spilled it into Sam Stringers path and he placed well into the net. Thornes went on the attack and in the last moments could have snatched a draw but the ball would just not go in. First Ethan Train then Lewis Larder both had shots well blocked.

Thornes SPA Air Conditioning Best effort went to Sam Stringer for his fine saves and his goal but to be honest anyone could have won this and the SPA Air Conditioning Man of The Match went to Lewis Poulson for his continued running.
