Nov 3 "Barbados Pitch Preparation"
The travels of the Thrumpton Cap 25 of 26

25. Nov 3 "Barbados Pitch Preparation"

The cap on his travels has found himself in Barbados at the Windward Cricket Club.

Accustomed to playing on a good wicket he sends the latest tips for the groundsman back at the badger Oval. His email reads:-

You may remember last week I was with my new friend "Windy" from Windward Cricket Club after he picked me up from the beach. There was a game due to be played at the club but a damp patch on the wicket had caused a delay and was looking like ruining the day..........or so I thought.

Now Ive seen a few things in my time around the cricket grounds of England but this was a first for me. "only another 10 minutes" said Windy.............hhmmm I don't think so I thought. The groundsman strolled out to the wicket with a small bottle of something in his hand and the next minute.................whhoooooosh!!!!! the pitch is on fire!!!

It seems if there is a rush to get the game going and there is moisture on the pitch.........easy, burn it off..........I had to get a closer look............no health and safety here me thinks..............anyway out I went, risking life and cap for the good readers back home..............

Never let it be said Badgers aren't fearless and now the cull is postponed I may pop back for a visit soon.

Burnsy was last seen in B&Q buying two more galvanised fire buckets to replace the bowlers run up markers
