A general meeting was held at Thrumpton Hall on Friday 11th November 1983 in the presence of 26 members. Mr G Seymour took the chair. Apologies were received from Mr R Davies, Mr A Pick and Mr T Nichol

The minutes of the last meeting were read and were signed by the Chairman to be a correct record.

The Treasurers gave a report of the financial situation and said that the club had had a heavy season and as a result the club had only £47 in its bank account. The total expenditure was £965 for the year and the income was only £490. The biggest item of the year was the covers which cost £363. The Treasurer said that only 8 members had paid their subscriptions and it was discussed about raising the match subs, but in the end it was decisded to keep them at 50p per match.

The averages for the season were read out (as above) by Mr R Priestley who said that the club played 45 matches Won 17 and lost 28. A vote of thanks was given to Mr R Priestley for working out the averages.

The Officials for the 1984 season were elected as follows.

President Mr G Seymour

Treasurer Mr D Swift

General Secretary Mrs M Shaw

Fixture Secretary Mr R Priestley

Social Secretary Mr I Adkin

The Vice Presidents were voted as the previous year and it was suggested that the Secretary write to Mr Dickerson to see if he still wanted to be a Vice President

The captains were then elected for the 1984 season as follows

Saturday Captain Mr R Pick

Sunday Captain Mr I Adkin

Evening League Mr G Shaw

Vice Captain Mr D Gant

The committee was re elected as the previous year with the addition of Mr R Chettle

The Umpires were then elected Mr R Smith Mr W Pepper

Scorer Mrs R Shaw

The committee was voted to remain the same except Mr A Footitt who asked to be taken off and Mr R Smith and Mr D Gant were included for the coming year.

As the club would be playing in the South Notts Village League in the coming season it would be decided to get the more expensive cricket ball. Also that the sightscreens and covers had been damaged by the high winds and hopefully these could be repaired without too much expense.

The Chairman read out a letter from the Village League and it was discussed about the committee being formed to choose the teams for future matches. The committee is to consist of the Captain, Fixture Secretary, Umpires and Vice Captain.

The Christmas prie draw was to be held on December 18th at 7pm in the Windmill Inn at Gotham with the prizes being the same as last year.. The tickets as yet were not available.. Also a date was fixed for a Valentines Disco to be held in the Village Hall on February 11th or as near as possible. The menu wqas discussed and it was decided to have a cold buffet. Many of the members said that the music was much to loud last year but perhaps the volume could be turned down.

A vote for clubman of the year was taken and for the second year running the title was won by Mr R Priestley.

In Any Other Business the Treasurer asked that the subscriptions be paid more promptly. Mr Whalley suggested an increase in match tax to £2. This was rejected by some members, so it was decided to keep them the same as last year.

The meeting was brought to a close at 9.15pm
