First Team v Westfield Reserves

Ticehurst were playing their first fixture against Westfield Reserve team. The result was not what was expected but after playing 90 minutes the day before, this fixture was going to be hard for the players to find the same performance levels.
Westfield certainly had the better of the first 15 minutes off the game until the introduction of Ricky Angel who was able to get Ticehurst on the front foot. Ticehurst took the lead through a sublime finish from Liam Bull, only for it to be ruled out for offside. Shortly afterwards the away side took the lead after a player was found unmarked from a corner. This certainly upset the manager who had made his point clear on how to defend corners prior to the match.  
The second half saw Ticehurst play some good football and in terms of possession they were able to assert themselves. However, Ticehurst had chances and were unable to convert them. They could have been awarded a penalty when Jamie Smith was bought down in the box. It was shortly afterwards that Ticehurst were caught on the break and a cross that found an unmarked player made it 2-0 to the visitors.
Ticehurst were grateful to their local rivals Ticehurst Elite as they kindly loaned a few players to help out with absences and injuries. The players that played were a credit to themselves and to their team.  Sadly there was big disappointment when the Ticehurst talisman and captain went into a tackle and had to come off injured. It was later diagnosed as a broken leg. On behalf of the football club we wish Calvin Bull a speedy return.
Overall, two games in two days saw a good workout and will hopefully work towards achieving the necessary fitness levels for the new season.
