Soham came from behind to beat Tilbury 2-1 at home, despite playing an hour of the game with ten men.
Tilbury made 4 changes to there line up, on a brisk afternoon in Cambridgeshire.
The hosts edged the early play, although clear opportunities were limited at either end. The first fell to Soham in the 10th minute when Louis Hawes misplaced his clearance straight at Gillies with the striker heading wide, In the 32nd minute Tilbury went in front. An Abdul Salami ball into the area, saw both Jack Carlile and Adam Vyse both had shots blocked or saved by Pope, before Vyse’s follow up stab was kept from crossing the line by Will Gardner who patted the ball away from goal. The referee was left with no option, to show a red card. Captain Adam Vyse gave the Dockers the lead, his 3rd in 3 games.
Despite the man advantage it was Soham who continued to attack up to the break.
The second half started explosive for the home side as they scored twice in 3 minutes to win the game.
On 49 a corner from the right was not cleared, leaving Lewis Clayton to score. 3 minutes later and Soham were ahead when Carden was given room to advance down the right towards the by-line where with the help of Clayton, the ball was delivered towards the back post for Craig Gillies to fire home from close range for a good team goal.
Both sides made changes as Soham were pegged back as Tilbury started to push more forward. Pope came out to save at Newby’s feet, before Newby and Aiken were both off target. Deep in to injury time subs Kurt Smith and Charlie Little combined to fire wide.
The result sees Tilbury remain in 17th spot. On Saturday they welcome high flying Potters Bar Town.
