Maldon & Tiptree 1 Tilbury 2 (Att 264)

Tilbury continued there good recent form, inflicting Maldon and Tiptree's first defeat of the season, with 2 late strikes on a chilly afternoon in Essex.

Manager Marc Harrison again had an unchanged line up, but were dealt a blow after just 12 minutes when captain John Easterford had to be replaced due to injury.

The home side started strongly with Ngamvoulou seeing his effort just over. Ryan Charles had a good effort well saved by Harry Aldridge. Tilbury's defence were defending well, with Maldon spraying the ball around well.
It took 31 minutes for Tilbury to have an effort on goal when David Knight's soft effort was easily saved, before Knight seeing a header saved.

The Dockers finished the half well, with Knight crossing, only to see Eljay Worrell at the back post, just failing to get his boot to the ball to direct it in to the net.

Aldridge was quickly called into action after the break, when he saved well from Conor Hubble's effort. The resulting corner from Ryan
Charles struck the post. The opening goal of the game, came on 51, when Charles ran in to the box unchallenged and squared the ball to Laste Dombaxe who fired home from close range.

On 55 Ryan Mallett saw his goal-bound header well cleared by Lance Akins. The home were in control and it took Tilbury to change there shape and the introduction of substitutions and starting to come back in to the game. On 79 Tilbury did equalise, Ryan Mallett found himself on the left side of the pitch, crossed the ball into the box, Brian Moses headed down for Tommy Barton to rifle home. This unsettled Maldon and within 3 minutes the game changed. David Knight was brought down on the edge of the area and his resulting free kick flew in to the box and crashed off Maldon defender Billy Cracknell and went into the net.

Tilbury finished the game strongly and in injury time Brian Moses for the second week running, went on a great run from his own half, but ended with his effort being smothered by McNamara. In he 5th minute of added time, Kaid saw his shot saved by Aldridge. With seconds remaining Ogunwamide was played in and again McNamara saved well.

To the delight of the large Tilbury contingent, the whistle went to see Tilbury inflict Maldon's first league defeat in 16. Tilbury were indebted to a fine defending display, marshaled by Lee Burns.

Despite the result Tilbury remain 5th in the league. The Dockers return to action next Saturday, when 4th place Bury Town visit Chadfields.
