Bowers and Pitsea 2 Tilbury 3 (Att 96)

Tilbury made it through to the quarter final of the Essex Senior Cup, with a fine 3-2 victory over Premier League side and local rivals Bowers and Pitsea, with former Bowers striker David Knight scoring twice to send his former team out.

Marc Harrison had the luxury of going in to the game with an unchanged line up. It was the Dockers who made the early running, with David Knight seeing his shot well saved by Chafer. On 13 minutes new signing Adam Topley fired from 25 yards, but his shot went wide. A Knight long range free kick on 18 went just over. On 24 Tilbury took the lead, when Oli Spooner picked up the ball inside the Bowers half and got himself in a good position, before placing home his effort. On 34 Hary Aldridge was called upon to save. A minute later Aldridge saved from Jamie Dicks. Before the break Ogunwamide played the ball through to Moses who hit over, before Ogunwamide was denied by a brilliant Chafer save.

After the break and the game being played in torrential rain, Knight saw a shot skid off the surface and wide. On 59 Bowers were awarded a free kick for an alleged pass pack, which saw John Easterford chest the ball back and substitute Bradley Warner fired home.
The home side were having a good period and took the lead on 66 when Ben Sartain fired a free kick that seemed to go through every body and crash into the net. Bowers pushed hard to increase the lead, but Tilbury kept out any threats. The introduction of Marlon Agyakwa saw an immediate change in the game. A fierce free kick on the edge of the area, saw a hand used to block the ball and David Knight scored from the spot. Tilbury were in charge and with 5 minutes to go, saw Knight's corner finding the head of Brian Moses who rose, but headed just over the bar.

In the second minute of injury time and both sides preparing for penalties, Ogunwamide took a quick throw and found David Knight who swung on the ball and fired in to the net for a fine goal and a deserved place in the quarter final draw.

Tilbury saw out the final coupe of minutes to see progress in the cup.

Tilbury will now travel to the winners of Dagenham and Redbrige or Barking who play in their final Round 3 tie next Tuesday.

Team: Aldridge, Boswell, Worrell, Easterford, Burns, Ogunwamide (Kendall 90), Barton (Agyakwa 73), Moses, Spooner, Topley and Knight (Carter 90)
