Timperley play their best Lacrosse to beat Heaton Mersey 6-21

Throughout my lacrosse life Heaton Mersey has always been a good trip . Pitches were always good and in the olden days they had a traditional pavilion which was one of my favourite places.
We used to give an award to the club with the best facilities and my recollection is that thanks to the efforts of Alan Clarke, Mersey won the award more times than any club.
The old pavilion has been replaced by a modern building which is shared with the rugby and cricket. The facilities are ,I am sure more in tune with the requirements of the 21st century but they have arguably built the ugliest building in Stockport and there is no shortage of competition.

On Saturday Timperley U16 travelled to take on Mersey. Timperley are playing some excellent lacrosse but Mersey are a solid team.

Timperley were playing well from the first whistle with Jim Hartley outstanding and dominating the face offs .
Timperley took a 5-2 lead at the end of the 1st quarter but Mersey were enjoying a fair share of possession.
Timperley were moving the ball well in attack and all the front three and midfield carried a threat giving them a12-4 halftime lead which they extended to 16-6 by the end of the 3rd. The Timperley long sticks are growing into an impressive unit but on Saturday Leon Read was outstanding.

Timperley kept up the pressure in the final period and ran out deserved 21-6 winners . The margin would have been greater but for a great display from the Mersey keeper.
