The third game of the season saw Timperley play Mellor which was sure to be a challenging match for both sides. The first quarter kicked off with some fast play, as players from both sides were quick off the draw and moved the ball rapidly across the pitch. The first goal of the game was scored by Kat from a penalty, with the second shortly after by Nic. Ellie and Lucy also worked well together, Ellie first setting a pick allowing Lucy to score and then Lucy supporting Ellie who scored a goal. With fierce competition from Mellor, 5 goals were conceded by Timperley leaving the score 5-4 to Mellor after the first quarter.

Both sides went into the second quarter strong, keen to add to their scores. Mellor were strong in their attack and scored 3 goals quickly off the draw. Timperley’s attack managed to gain possession on several occasions throughout the second quarter, scoring another goal executed by Kat. After a rapid second quarter, the score at half time was 8-5 to Mellor.

Going into the second half, Timperley were keen to make good decisions and work even better as a team to get more shots on goal. Timperley made a strong start with Lucy winning the ball off the draw, passing the ball down to the goal before being received by Kat. There was a penalty on Mellor, as such, Kat took the shot and scored. Lucy and Nic scored further goals in this quarter. With an equal fight from both sides, each team scored 3 goals leaving the score 11-8 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth and final quarter, Timperley stepped up again determined to bridge the gap between the goal difference and reduce Mellors possession. Defence did an amazing job keeping high pressure on the ball whenever there was a turnover and conceding only one goal. Georgia also made several great saves in goal, one of which was from a one-on-one fast break from Mellor. Sarah also scored her first goal of the season and Mellor scored an own goal. Timperley finished bravely and won the final quarter 4-1, leaving the final score 12-12.
