Game against Mellor.

Our first games of the season was away at Mellor (just like the U15). We had 14 girls to field, so had 2 subs. Like always we started slow. We went behind before we pulled back and started to play some lovely Lacrosse. The Mellor team was made up of a lot of youngsters so we told our girls that they had to pass at least three times before they could score and that they should not hold on to the ball too long. They should play like this against everyone. Charlotte was great at defence marshalling the girls around her. In the midfield and attack we passed the ball around nicely (most of the time). There were a number of girls who put in a lot like Anna Green, Elise, Sophie Hurlstone and Jodie. In total (or more like what I could count on my team sheet) we had over 20 shots on goal and scored 9 goals. Emma Whitley and Sophie Hurlstone were the more prolific ones.

In goal we had Niamh and she made some great saves. I thinks she made well over 10 good saves (again something I need to log on the team sheet). She was also good at getting the ball back in the game after catching it.

The score at the end of the first half was 6 - 2 for us. Second half we introduced a new rule that the ball had to go behind the goal before scoring, again we obeyed this rule mostly! The score for the second half was 3 - 3 but we had some good chances that either the keeper saved or we missed. Again a good team performance. End score 9-5 for Timperley.

Goal scorers: Emma Whitley (3x), Sophie Hurlstone (3x), Elise (2x) and Anna Green (1x).

This week, Julie will be working on our throwing the ball over a distance. We had some lose balls when attempting to throw the balls. Our self believe and hunger for the ball was better but still need to be more aggressive and hungry when going for the ball.

Player of the day:

Charlotte was the player of the day for defence. She was talking to the others and organising them. She also is the MVP for the game.
Jodie was the player of the day in attack. She worked hard in attack.
Anna Green was the player of the day for midfield. She worked her socks off.
